The Bacterial Cytoskeleton based on Bacterial Translation Elongation Factor EF-Tu: Novel Insights

چکیده

Bacteria possess an EF-Tu-based cytoskeleton. This article presents a short review. A number of questions which are not discussed in the former publications can be asked, such as: all bacteria ribosomal protein synthesis system and, hence, also EF-Tu. EF-Tu is produced amount that higher than need for function as translation elogation factor ribsomal synthesis. This tries to answer question regarding surplus EF-Tu: formation "cell-wide web" by self-assembly feafure stabilizes cell integrity. An additional asked: what origin this bacterial cytoskeleton? contains speculation on topic. third regards the'ntteructjon ribosomes process protemsynthesis: does move ribosome, or ribosome intergated fibril The publication depicts electron micrographs show colocalizatton botth entities. example aprotein with two independent functions: participation kanslation elongation factor, and component cytoskeleton. situation open up discussion ofthe sequence events states early cells during evolution.

Bacterial Backstabbing: EF-Tu, Brute?

Bacterial type VI secretion is an offensive and defensive weapon that utilizes a molecular warhead to inject toxins into neighboring cells. In this issue of Cell, Whitney et al. report a new class of toxin that disrupts the core metabolism of recipient cells and uncover a surprising requirement for EF-Tu.

Theoretical Insights on the Mechanism of the GTP Hydrolysis Catalyzed by the Elongation Factor Tu (EF-Tu).

The purpose of this work is to have a better understanding of the mechanism of GTP hydrolysis catalyzed by the elongation factor Tu. Two main aspects are being discussed in the literature: the associative or dissociative character of the process and the nature of nucleophile activation. The calculations of the QM subsystem have been done by means of the M06-2X density functional and the split v...

Nucleotide sequence of Mycobacterium leprae elongation factor (EF-Tu) gene.

The elongation factor EF-Tu is essential in bacterial translation and has sequences which are highly conserved even in phylogenetically distant bacteria. This allowed us to show that Gram negative bacteria had two copies of the tuf gene whereas most Gram positive bacteria including Mycobacteria had one copy of this gene (1). The agent of leprosy, Mycobacterium leprae, has been isolated from nat...

Novel mutation in mitochondrial Elongation Factor EF-Tu associated to dysplastic leukoencephalopathy and defective mitochondrial DNA translation

The mitochondrial Elongation Factor Tu (EF-Tu), encoded by the TUFM gene, is a highly conserved GTPase, which is part of the mitochondrial protein translation machinery. In its activated form it delivers the aminoacyl-tRNAs to the A site of the mitochondrial ribosome. We report here on a baby girl with severe infantile macrocystic leukodystrophy with micropolygyria and a combined defect of comp...

Identification of novel inhibitors of bacterial translation elongation factors.

Bacterial elongation factor Tu (EF-Tu) and EF-Ts are interacting proteins involved in polypeptide chain elongation in protein biosynthesis. A novel scintillation proximity assay for the detection of inhibitors of EF-Tu and EF-Ts, as well as the interaction between them, was developed and used in a high-throughput screen of a chemical library. Several compounds from a variety of chemical series ...
